Hi Frances,
I'll attempt a brief summary for Tony, but since Averil joined in because of her connection to the Ballajora Corkills, it has become apparent that at least some of the Ballajora/Ballajorey families are mixed up with Corkills from Ballagorry (either Ballagorry Beg or Ballagorry Mooar).
Although separate, like the two families from Ballajora, the Ballagorry Corkills were also often confused with each other, and it didn't help that all these separate lines were often written in wills etc as of Ballajory or Ballagory which look very similar.
Regarding future needed research, the most important because of all the Ancestry trees possibly following the wrong family is to know:
1. what children/ grandchildren or other relatives are named in the will of Bahee CORKILL, 1815 Maughold A 85 0106240.
Was her son William 1779-1833 married to Catherine Kelly with at least 6 children, and descendants around the world, or was Cath Kelly's husband William Corkill 1779-1855 of Ballagorry Mooar?
2. Most important for Tony:
Ew Corkill & Ann Cashin contract no.18. Index page 4
Others that might help sort out the early families:
3. Dan Corkill & Margery Christian Contract 1676 no. 56 or 86. Index page 2 [which precedes your Old Mau **** 01 onwards, which starts at the bottom of the filmed p.3].
Could this be Daniel Corkill & Margaret Karran marr. 2 Jun 1668?
4.William Corkill & Jony Kerruish contract 1669 [no.13?] index page 2.
Marriage not found in register.
5. John Corkill & Margt Kerruish no.38. Index page 4.
John Corkill / Margret Collesh marr 8 Apr 1656?
These are ones I have mentioned previously in the endless thread, but no doubt there are others.
Many thanks for any help in sorting out these families.
Sue
