Just to let you know that today I received the Thomas Corkhill/ Mary Ann McLaughlin marriage cert. I am still waiting for the other one. (Thomas/Jane)
As we already knew, this is of little consequence but it does tidy up a loose end or two.
At the time they were married, Thomas was described as a widower 54 and Mary Ann a widow 50.
The wedding took place on the 16 Feb 1897
The occupation of Thomas was ,as we knew, a coal miner whose father was Robert Corkhill, iron miner.(deceased)
Mary Ann's father was Samuel Cooke, tailor. (deceased)
Thomas and Mary Ann both signed the register with an X.
I expect the other certificate will arrive early next week. Thanks again,
