Hello Averil,
That latest tree looks more valid, following roughly some of what the Radcliffes wrote. I had a look at Ancestry and saw the numerous trees which mention some people in this family with a lot of odd connections, seemingly copying each other. Quite scary really. There are so many of them - what will they be like in another five years, growing at this rate, and with everyone copying someone else, and no primary sources given?
Starting at the beginning of your latest discovery, Frances has Edward Corkill's will summary:
1734-2 E w CORKILL Edward d 26 aug 1734; balnascloe ?;wife ann;son james;dau joney + mary jt exexsman sert Robt Kerruish.
And wife Ann's: 1736-1 A 29 CORKILL Ann CASHIN d beg april 1736;dau jony,mary jt exexs;son james;sis elizth.
This fits CR's "only son James" - the first Corkill at Ballasloe after father Edward.
However I wonder where they found "James Corkill 1707 – 1779 m. Margaret Kerruish 2nd wife Catherine Crowe".
CR has his 2nd wife as Cath Curlett who mentioned son John's child as her grandchild in her 1784 will. The tree has no dates or refs for the two wives.
MNB: 1784 A 163 CORKILL Catherine made 3 june 1783;ballnasloe;gson wm corkill(s/o john);son john (exor),james,edwd,robt(his dau);gdau cath quay,dau isable tear;dispute between john + james.
On your copy of the Ancestry tree it isn't clear where "Dan Corkill" comes from? Has he been slipped in as a son of James 1707-1779. along with the others? It is clear from James's will that he had four sons: Robert the eldest, then Edward, James, and John.
Quite a few people on Ancestry fitted in a Daniel who I haven't come across in that family.
