Carol has replied to say that she still has the Maughold parish register film at her local FHC. She is away from home until Oct 12 th but can go the FHC after that to look for the witnesses at the marriage of William Corkill & Elinor Christian 16 Dec 1802.
- Unless someone going to the Manx Museum library is able to look at the film there before then.

Donna had a look at MIs but couldn't find a William & Elinor/Eleanor/Ellen combination in Maughold gravestones. I couldn't find any sign of them in Maughold records after their last child was bapt in 1819, or in the 1841 census. There were numerous William Corkill burials, mostly unidentified, and two William C Maughold wills between that date and 1841.

I have many copies of Corkill wills, but mainly pre-1800. That is one thing you could do at a FHC if you can find a more convenient one - to order will films between 1819 and the 1841 census. I finally managed to sort out my Corkill family because of the will of an aunt whose siblings and their children were all named, as well as her cousins in Liverpool from her maternal side. Amazing! IOM wills are often detailed and very helpful. I used to read through all the wills in the parish on the film, and often found references to members of my families.

I found two wills in Brian Lawson's index which would be worth a look:
CORKILL, William, 1820, Maughold, E[pis], [no] 1, [LDS film no.] 0106421
CORKILL, William, 1829, Maughold, E, 2, 0106429

And I'd look at all the other Maughold wills as well on those films, hoping for a mention of them.

William 1820 died of smallpox, but no other information at burial May 12 1820.
The odd thing is that there wasn't a Maughold burial for a William in 1829 except an infant. There was one burial 10 March 1823, who also died of smallpox, of William CORKILL (Dick) - perhaps his will - 6 years later? "Dick" was the nickname for one of the Ballajory families.
There was also a burial for "William Corkill's wife", B'jorey Jan 15 1821. Also died of smallpox.
