Hi Tony,
That's very good news that both certs were the correct ones.
No, I don't need to view them, thanks anyway, I just wanted you to give me the details, which you have done.
Now that we know that Joseph's mother was Jane Graham that takes you another step ahead, and the cert for her marriage to Thomas Corkill will confirm both fathers and occupations for your direct ancestors.
This looks like their marriage:
Name:CORKHILL, Thomas
Registration district: Whitehaven
County:Cumberland
Year of registration:1859
Quarter of registration:Oct-Nov-Dec
Volume no: 10b
Page no: 791
Name:GRAHAM, Jane
Registration district: Whitehaven
County:Cumberland
Year of registration:1859
Quarter of registration:Oct-Nov-Dec
Volume no: 10b
Page no: 791
However, this gives us a slight problem, because we thought Thomas was born near the end of 1840 which makes him very young at marriage. Unless there were two Thomas Corkills marrying Jane Grahams in the same area - seems unlikely?
They might have had many children between 1859 and 1883!
