Thank you again for your effort. It is much appreciated. Firstly I would like to reply to your William Corkill(1779 ) query. I think I got this information a few weeks ago before I realised that there were so many Williams. (And for that matter, Roberts and Thomases)

I think I must have found that the William that I had discovered had a father named John who married Jane Skillicorn. I'm sure that I got this information from the familysearch.org website.

A couple of nights later, I googled Corkill/Skillicorn iom and this led me to ;-
25/01/07 6-11pm Donna J Douglas--Corkill family from Ramsey/Maughold (joe corkill).

This was manna from heaven for me, at the time, because one family member led seamlessly onto another and in no time at all I had traced back to about 1550.

You may recall that at that time I contacted you to tell you how well advanced I was. Shortly afterwards my world would come crashing down around my ears when I realised that I had the wrong William!

If you don't mind having a look at that thread (joe corkill) you will realise just how easy a trap it was to fall into.

I've had a sneak preview of the message that Frances sent to you early today and it looks like it could be good news. However, I'll leave it until I hear from you personally.
