Hi Sue,
Firstly, thanks again for your attention. Today I received the marriage cert of Thomas and Jane. To be honest, it is not a very good copy but I think I can read it.
Third Oct 1859, Thomas Corkhill, 20 years, bachelor, iron ore miner. Father=Robert Corkhill, miner, deceased.
Jane Graham 18 years, spinster, factory girl. Father= Thomas Graham, miner.
The residence of both parties is given simply as---Cleator.
If Thomas was 20 on this date, he would have been born in 1839. I think it is possible that he may have been a couple of years younger than he states.
Regarding the Family History Centres. I will start the ball rolling tomorrow by ringing the Newcastle number and taking it from there. Sunderland and Ashington are about the same distance apart but Ashington does not involve driving through any heavy traffic. I will make a report as soon as possible.
Thanks again,
Tony
