Hi Frances,
What a fascinating look at the debts of John Looney and wife Rachel, and as you say, no wonder he took off for Australia!
It shows that he was the son of John Looney Senior of Boshin who gave a Heirs bargain in 1831 to his eldest son John of a parcel of land called Gob -ny -Schoot, because the same land was named on 8 August 1833 and in later years as received by him in settlement, and given in security, in your transcripts.
Actually it's rather sad, because John Looney Senior left his purchased property (not his inherited Gob -ny -Schoot) to his daughter Margaret's children, and these appear to have been borrowed against as well by John & Rachel both before and after his 1835 death.
Did the 1811 will have any information other than the brother-in-law Robert Corkill which confirmed this different John as being son of Margaret Hutchin?
(And therefore not John husband of Rachel.)
Thanks for looking up and posting all those interesting records.
Sue
