Hello Averil,
Thanks for the 1811 will details.
Regarding the "1783 Burial, John Looney May 24th age 34 [Son of, Robert Looney & Jane Kneen]."
No age was given at his burial in the parish register, and I have doubts about Feltham’s M.I. Could the age really have been 13 (or 14)? The son of Daniel Looney and Isabel Cashen would have been aged about 13 at that time, and M.I.s are notoriously inaccurate for many reasons.
The reason I question the age given is because Robert/Jane Kneen’s adult son John would almost certainly have left a will, being an only child whose parents had both died and had both left wills.
John Looney s/o Robert/Jane Kneen bap 23 June 1750.
Father Robert dies in 1756 leaving a long list of goods and effects to his only son John. Supervisor is Wm Looney the uncle.
His mother Jane LOONEY als KNEEN is buried Maughold Feb 25 1780. Her will mentions her sister Esther Cashion, brother John Kneen, niece Mary [marr. Robert Kissack], and her only son John is her exec.
I can’t see bapts for any other children.
If only child John died leaving no will, who inherits his father's assets? Surely there would at least have been an administration of his goods and effects if he died intestate?
He looks more likely to be the John Looney who married Margaret Hutchen in 1777, and did leave a will (1805).
There were other John Looneys who died within the time frame up to the date of the deed to Robert (1823) who could have been the eldest son of Daniel/Isabel Cashen, but John the son of Robert/Jane Kneen could have lived for years.
The more I think about that 1823 deed from (Crow Creen) Daniel Looney to second son Robert the more certain I feel that Daniel’s eldest son John was dead.
