Sue, thanks for redirecting me. I went back through all the Looney birth, marriage and death information for Maughold Parish and I matched up all the John Looney's with their parents and their wives. The key to this whole mystery evolved around which John Looney Margaret Hutchin had married in 1777 and which John Looney Isabel Camaish had married in 1788.. Through the process of elimination I came up with the following.
It turns out that Margaret Hutchin had in fact married John Looney b. 1 May 1738 Maughold, d. 1804, Maughold. The children mentioned in both of their death records (intestate wills) are in fact theirs. This John Looney was the son of William Looney b. 1711 and the grandson of William Looney b. 1660, great grandson of Robert Looney b. 1644. Robert is the common ancestor as you will see in the following.
Isabel Camaish did in fact marry John Looney (Yack) b. 1748 d. 2 Dec 1835. Check it out, all those Crow Creen and Gob ny Schoot land transfers now fall into place and make perfectly good sense. Their son, John Looney b. 1788 is free to marry Rachel Redhead. John Looney (Yack) b. 1748 is the son of John Looney b. 19 Mar 1698 and wife Margaret Kelvie, he is the grandson of William Looney b. 28 Oct 1660 and grandson of Robert Looney b. 20 Feb 1644.
The family of John Looney and Margaret Hutchen do not figure into any of those land transfers, marriages or Wills. This couple and their children stand apart in all those dealings. They do share a common Looney ancestor.
Earlier I had asked how the John Looney b. ~1786 who married Jane Cubbon fit into the Maughold Parish Looney family. While sorting out all the John Looney's and placing them with their respective parents and wives, I discovered that this John Looney was the son of Robert Looney b. 3 Jul 1757 and in turn he is the grandson of John Looney and Margaret Kelvie.
