I did a little research on the possibility that John Looney (Yack) b. 1748 d. 1835, may have married a second time following the death of his first wife, Margaret Hutchin. I found three records for John Looney who were married in Maughold Parish between 1802 and 1835. The most likely of these three was John Looney who married Elinor Callister on 18 March 1806 with Daniel Looney as a witness.
I next searched on Elinor Callister to see if there were any candidates who were born about 1756 in keeping with the stated age of Wid Looney (Yack) who died 22 Feb 1838 age 82. There were actually three Elior Callister born during a three year time period (1755-1757). One in Germany, IOM and two in Malew, IOM.
The other two John Looney who were married during the 1802-1835 time period were:
1. John Looney b. ~1787 who married Jane Cubbon on 11 Dec 1813. No Looney witness documented as being present. This couple have headstones in the Maughold Parish Church Cemetery and it shows that John Looney was age 85, born about 1787 when he died 16 Aug 1871. His headstone says he was a Mason from Ramsey. This could very well be John Looney b. 21 Sep 1788, son of John Looney b. 1770, grandson to Daniel.
2. John Looney who married Christian Kissack 10 Jan 1829. Joseph Looney was present as a witness. This John Looney appears to be the son of Ewan Looney b. 1766.
So it would seem that John Looney (Yack) b. 1748 d. 1835 was married twice. FIrst to Margaret Hutchin who died 1802 and second to Elinor Callister who is identified in the Maughold Parish Marriage Register as married to John Looney 18 Mar 1806 and in the Maughold Parish Burial Register as Wid Looney (Yack) buried 22 Feb 1835 age 82.
