Hello Eric.

While thinking about how to answer Averil, I googled "how to do proper research". It came back with lots of replies, so I picked some that I think apply here.
Two from "Ten simple rules for doing your best research" (journals dot plos dot org):
"Believe and doubt your hypothesis at the same time" . In other words, attack your hypotheses to find any holes.
"Leave your door open".
The third very important rule is to ensure your research survives peer review. I don't believe Averil's hypothesis passes this test.

Yes, Eric, I do agree with everything that you have said, except for your comment.

I do’ leave my door open’ and I do check and double check every part of my Looney Family, and I do check every bit of information that queries my Family History - of which there has been more than once.
The peer review that I respect the most and follow - is from - Frances.
The amount of information Frances knows and has on her – A Manx Note Book CD is amazing to say the least.
The amount of work and hours that Frances puts in at the Manx Museum is invaluable.
Frances has information on all of the Manx Families and is a big help to everyone.
The website for Frances – A Manx Note Book is here.

While you are on Frances website – please take a look at the Looney Family of Maughold, information that can be found here.
Please read right to the bottom of the page.
Especially read – the children of John Looney and Margaret Kelvy.
