Hi Michael
This IGI entry (extracted from parish record) could be the baptism of your John:

*****
Archibald Gick married Elizabeth Yates (spinster) 27 Jan 1794 in Liverpool. He was a tailor. Their children were:
Mary 1795
Ann 1796
Henry 1798 (mistranscribed by Ancestry as Thomas)
Archibald 1799
Elizabeth 1801
Judith 1802
Margaret 1809
All of these baptisms are viewable as scanned images of parish registers in Ancestry's "Liverpool, Lancashire, England, Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1659-1812". They all give Archibald's profession as "tailor" and his wife as Elizabeth Yates. Their address in the earlier baptisms is Newington, and in the later ones it's Mount Pleasant St.
If you just enter Gick in the search page, there's only one Archibald Gick having children at this time, so it seems likely that this is your g g g grandfather. I'm guessing that your "John Gick b 1816" was a late baby for Archibald Gick and Elizabeth Yates, b 1813, from the IGI entry above. I can't find a scanned image of this in "Liverpool, Lancashire, England, Baptisms, 1813-1906".
There's also a Mary Jane Gick b 1804, parents Archibald Gick and Elizabeth Yates (IGI ext). Perhaps the first Mary b 1795 had died.
Looking for a baptism of an Archibald Gick who was the right age to marry in 1794, the only one which comes up in the IGI is this entry (extracted from the parish register):
