I'm curious about the occupation "gentleman farmer" for William Gick b.c.1740- died c.1837. Was this written in his will? I have seen this term included in late-1880s directories, and also applied during the 1900s to a farm owner who lived and worked in the city, and who had a manager on his farm. Was this the case with William Gick? I've never seen the term used in the 1700s/early 1800s IOM records, hence my interest.
