Hi all Gick researchers
I am attempting to recreate a more detailed family tree of the GICKS originating from the IOM using a combination of baptisms, marriages & burials; Wills and the 1841 to 1901 census. I would welcome hearing from anyone with GICK ancestry (both male & female) with a view to exchanging information.
I have noticed quite a lot of confusion with regards to the descendants of the two William Gick and Jane Moore marriages (1765 & 1781) and also with regards to the correct marriage of Thomas Gick bpt 1828 to Thomas Gick & Ellinor (sic) Bridson. My concern is that these errors which have been posted to the net in good faith, are inadvertently leading researchers down incorrect pathways. I realise that a good researcher should verify new information but I wonder how many actually do this.
My aim is to
1. Exchange Gick research information
2. When completed to the 1901 census, I would like to make this information available on free websites so that all Gick researchers can benefit. All contributors will be acknowledged.
So if you are willing to exchange your research and would like to participate, I would appreciate hearing from you.
