This is very interesting as I am researching this Gick connection in the IOM. My relationship
is via what has been noted in our family records by a now deceased aunt as - the Gicks of Cordeman who were farmers in the south.
Cordeman is a village in the Santon/Malew/ Ballasalla/Malew area.
It often depends on the time, and how a record was made which parish was named. These areas run into each other.

William Gick farmed over 200 acres. I recently visited the area as my father, and aunt are buried at Rushen, which is a parish in that area.

I think I have been confused by there being more than one William married to a Jane Moore, if this is true (only just seen it here)

I spent some time at the records office in Douglas and got a lot of information on the Gicks but was baffled by some of it conflicting.

I was very surprised that I did not see one Gick listed in the present IOM telephone book.

I would like to make contact with yourself and others researching this family to exchange information. My link starts on my great grandmother's side and her name was Jane Clarkson. who married ny great grandfather James Henry Newton.

Her mother Isabelle was from the IOM and links somewhere into the Gicks. It is this link I am trying to establish for absolute certain, before I accept it.

It is so very easy to go up the wrong path when so many names are the same. At times the coincidences are beyond belief.
