Thanks for that information! With the DNA evidence, I feel confident that the Robert Looney family originated in the Isle of Man. Given that there isn't any mention of Robert and Elizabeth and their first children in any parish records there and the fact that records show many people had gone to Northern Ireland during that time, it is a strong possibility that Robert's parents moved to Ireland before Robert was born and he left for America from there. He may have joined that big wave of Scotch-Irish in their move from Northern Ireland to Pennsylvania and then down the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
Just to throw another little wrench into things though - I'm pretty sure the Robert Loony in the 1725 and 1726 tax lists for Nantmeal Township in Chester Co., PA is our Robert. Jeremiah Jack is on the same 1726 list and he is the man to whom Robert sold his land in Orange Co., VA in 1739. That would be too much of a coincidence for them not to be the same people. So if Robert was in PA that early, we can't really say when he arrived or where he married Elizabeth!
