I've put the Looney summaries online - the deeds give more details re the properties as they were sold - there would appear to be 3 Looney families in Malew (Ballasalla + Castletown) around this period - I have had a quick! skim thru Lib Monestarum (the rent book for Abbey lands which include most cottages in Ballasalla) a Thomas Lewney appears in a 1627 listing of cottagers and appears to share a 1s 4d rental - the table is a list of fines and the property is shared with a 10s fine (ie a tax) he pays half and the other name which is overwritten and not clear on my copy pays the other half (name might be William Nelson). Lib Mon is a tedious book to search but likely will appear in other lists - a 1634 will for a Robt Lowny mentions a bro Thomas (possibly the one who is of Rushen in 1643? - but no will I can see for Thomas in Malew)
