I am trying to find information about the parentage and siblings of Robert Looney, Senior. Robert has been documented as being in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Colony in 1723 by virtue of tax records discovered in that city. About 1734, he moved on to Augusta County, Virginia Colony, established and operated Looney's Mill and Looney's Ferry. He was killed by Indians near Red Creeek, Augusta County, Virginia Colony in 1769. He was married to Elizabeth Llewellyn (AKA Elizabeth Stover) and raised 13 children (11 boys and 2 girls). It is now believed, because of the tax records, that only two of Robert's sons were born on Isle of Man, Thomas and Robert, Junior. Daniel's birth could have been in either place depending on when Robert left the Isle of Man and when he arrived in Pennsylvania Colony. The other children were all born in the Colonies -- Adam, Samuel, Absalom, Louisa, Lucy Jane, John and Peter being born in Pennsylvania and David, Joseph B. and James being born in Virginia Colony. Robert, Senior is believed to have been born in Ballagilley (Farm), Maughold about 1694. There is much speculation on Robert Senior's parentage and siblings but no concrete proof. If anyone has any info or documentation about Robert, please contact me. There are hundreds of Looney researchers in the U.S. who would die to find a provable connection. As the editor of a new book (soon to be published) about Robert and his children, I am at the head of that list. Thank you for any help you may be able to give.
