I have seen these entries but found them through another source. I own several books on Virginia which helped with sorting through Robert's children and some of his grandchildren. I even found a short article in an old archeology magazine. I agree that the Irish connection needs to be explored further. Family stories I have heard state that Robert went to Ireland from the Isle of Man then continued on to the Colonies, but no one has an explaination for why he would take that route. It makes more sense to sail from Ireland if he was born in Ireland. I found mention of a will for a John Looney in Ireland that I am eager to check out. I am not sure where the name of John for Robert's father came from, but if Robert followed common naming patterns, I would expect his father to be named Thomas since that is what he named his eldest son.
