The Church records would be good to have if you can access them.

I had a look at the website you found www.werelate.org which gives a lot of information on the Looney Family.
Some more dates and places of Death, might be worth checking out to see if any of them have left Wills.

another way to search is by the Census records these years are the earliest.

1790, 1800, 1810, 1820

in later Census records you should be able to find your Great Grandparents and trace them back.
