all such are possible but it would appear from posted info that the link with Maughold was quite late and within the last 50 years - there would however appear to be very strong links between Ballasalla Looneys and Looneys in Belfast which supplied much of the linen traded in Pennsylvania.
The Looneys (or Lowny etc) seem to have been in Ballasalla since at least 1601 with a Philip Lowney holding a 6d rent in Ballasalla (Abbey cottage so needs be tediously traced via Lib Mon) tho a Thomas Looney seems to have been the one who compounded for several Looney holdings around 1700 - I've put up a few more Maley Loony will summaries (extracted off my 'todo' pile) but not those requested by Avril - I think I've also summarised all Looney Malew deeds pre 1731 (but on my CD)
