After reading all these postings, our William Taggart's family just gets more and more intriguing.

Sue, do you know how old the girl (?or boy?) would have to be, to be married from a marriage contract - would it be 14 years of age, like you had mentioned as the legal age of becoming an adult? How would the parents pick out who their child (?baby?) was going to marry in the years to come; were there specific rules for this "marriage contract" system in the Manx culture?

Nobody can say that genealogy is boring!!
