Viv, I had another look at Joyce's files, and she has Ellinor Bridson as daur of John B & Ann MOORE [marr 5 Nov 1709], Ann d/bur 31 Oct 1776 Malew. John Bridson's father Revd John Bridson marr "Jane" 18 Oct 1668 Malew, and d/bur 21 Aug 1722 Malew. Revd John T's father of Ballavarane d/bur 4 Jan 1677/78, wife Alice.

She has the children of William Taggart & Ellinor Bridson as:
1. Capt Matthias T.of Castletown, Malew, bapt 24 Feb 1733/1734, d/bur 21 May 1786, marr.1731 Jane STEVENSON b.c. 1735 - 4 July 1802 Malew, 7 children.
2. Ann b.c.1736, d/bur.27 June 1807 Malew married 31 May 1761 Samuel MOORE 1712-1775 Malew, 8 children between 1762-1774.
3. Margaret bapt. 24 Aug 1739 of Ballakew Malew, d/bur 25 March 1778 Malew, married 31 Aug 1762 St Nicholas L,L,? England to Daniel BRIDSON b.21 Nov 1736 Santon, 5 children.

I don't think these Taggarts connect to the Ballakew family, so far as I can see from what Joyce and others have written. Unless related through the Bridsons. Amazing how few marriages there are between Taggart and NOT a Bridson!
