Hello Viv,
Many thanks for looking up Jane's decree, and for posting the details.
Is this the same as you have for the children?
Children of William Taggard & Jane Moore:
William TAGGART bapt 4 Jan 1720 son of William TAGGART of Ballakew, Malew, died before 1732.
Margaret Taggart bapt 12 June 1729 daur of William Taggart of Ballakew, buried [infant] 9 Sept 1731? (not in mother’s 1732 decree).
Brother William Taggart (a twin with Anne) was bapt 12 Oct 1732 Malew, buried 23 Oct 1741 (father: William TAGGART of Ballakew, Malew).
Which leaves only Anne to inherit the £30, if she lived? (Another Ann daur of William [& Eleanor] was b.c.1736.)
William’s 1788 will (written 1782) named only his wife Eleanor Taggart als Bridson, his daur Elizabeth (in England), and his two grandchildren, Wm Taggart & Eleanor Cain. Eleanor/Ellinor’s 1795 will (written 1790) named only daur Martha and son William.
(It is odd that William’s will has “At a consistory Court holden at the house of Thos Quine in the Parish of KK Patrick 26th June 1799 William Taggart the Testator having departed this life, Eleanor Taggart the surviving Testatrix is hereupon sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for the paymnt of debts and legacies, namely Thos Caine & Wm Taggart both of Malew..” when Eleanor had died before 1795! John, could you possibly have misread 1795 as 1799?)
On the original list that I wrote (from Joyce Oates) of William & Eleanor's children, at the top of the list was Capt Matthias T.of Castletown, Malew, bapt 24 Feb 1733/1734, d/bur 21 May 1786, marr.1731 Jane STEVENSON b.c. 1735 - 4 July 1802 Malew.
I'm now wondering whether Matthias belonged to the other family (Joyce's two entries for the same marriage)?
Sue
