Articles of Agreement made Conditioned and Agreed upon by and
between Margaret Creetch Als Looney Als Kelvin of the Crowcreen ^widow^
in the parish of KK Maughold on the one part and Ewan Looney
her youngest Son and Mary Looney his Loving wife on the other part
are as followeth
First that the afforsd. Margaret Creetch Als Looney Als Kelvin Doth give
and have by these Presents Settled upon the afforsd. Ewan Looney
and Mary Looney his wife the one half of all her goods and Effects
Dead or alive_ of what Nature or kind soever in present Possession
2. In consideration of the above agreement or settlement they the said Ewan
Looney and Mary his wife Doth hereby Promise to fit and furnish
their Sd. Loving mother with sufficient and decent meat, Drink, and
apparels, and to take due and becoming Care of her During her
Natural Life.
[Item] if the above Ewan Looney & Mary his wife doth Live with their
Loving Mother During her Natural Life, and doth content her
with a Decent Living as becometh a Loving mother in her old age,
and Doth Nourish her as afforsd. She Doth promise hereby
to give to them, the afforsd. Ewan Looney & Mary his wife all that
Remains of her Goods & Effects Moveable and immoveable after her
Decease
[Item] it is agreed that if in case the sd. Margaret Creetch Als Looney Als Kelvin
their mother are not satisfied or do Dislike with the Maintainance
that she shall have from her afforsd. Son & Daughter Ewan Looney & Mary
his wife that She is at Liberty to go where She please, and they
the afforsd. Ewan & Mary Looney is not to get her remaining goods
or Effects after her Decease But She is at Liberty to give them to
who She thinks Best Deserves them
Lastly for the true and faithfull Performance of all and Singular the
above agreement and Settlement and Every Article therein contained
Both Parties concerned do hereby bind & oblidge themselves their
*------ Exrs. Adminrs. and * -------- in and under the Penalty and
Forfiture of Forty Pounds Sterling to be Levied and Paid
according to Law and Practice within this Isle as witness to
their names and markes this 7th of January 1798

The foregoing Deed of Settlement having
been attested before the High Bailiff of Ramsey
District and now openly published in Court
and no objection offered thereto the same
is accepted as and for the Last Will and
Testament of Margaret Creetch the
Donor and Ewan Looney the Donee
is thereupon sworn ^Exor. ^ in Court in form of
Law and hath given ^Pledges ^for the payment of
Debts vizt, John Callow of Ballaskeig
and John Callow of Ballacreggan both
of Maughold ----
