Oct 1842
Whereas two several Executions in favour
of Thomas Kneale of the Town of Ramsey
Merchant against John Looney of Maughold
Granted by His Honor Deemster Heywood on
or about the 31 day of January 1842 one
for the sum of Two hundred and thirty
Pounds with Interest and Costs being the
principal money of a Bond and Security
Granted by the said John Looney and Rachel
His Wife on their lands and premises in the
Parish aforesaid dated the 9 day of June
1835 – and the other Execution for the sum
of Three hundred Pounds Sterling with
Interest and Costs being the principal money
of another Bond and Security granted to the
said Thomas Kneale by the parties aforesaid
on their lands and premises in the Parish
aforesaid dated the 3d day of June 1839
– having been placed in the hands of
William Brew Coroner of Garff sheading to
be enforced and executed and after the
lands and premises so granted in Security
had been appraised and due and regular
notice given as by Law required - certain
lands and premises situate in the Parish of
Maughold aforesaid part of Ballagilley
Commonly Called " Gob_ne_ Scoot " and a Certain
other parcel or parcels of land part of " Magher
E. Kew " with the Dwelling Houses Buildings
and edifices thereon erected were put up to
Public Auction in separate lots by the Said
William Brew Coroner aforesaid and after
Several bids had been made for the Concern
called " Magher E Kew " The said Thomas Kneale
offered or bid the Sum of Five hundred and
twenty seven Pounds Sterling for the Same
where upon the said lands Houses and premises
were this day knocked / the 7 April 1842 /
knocked down to the said Thomas Kneale who
was declared the highest bidder and purchaser
thereof ; And the said other Concern Called
" Gob_ne_ Scoot " having immediately afterwards
been put up to public Auction and after
several bids the said Thomas Kneale bid
or offered the Sum of One hundred and
fifty six Pounds for the said Concern and
no person having offered more the same
was knocked off down to him the said Thomas
Kneale who was also declared purchaser
THESE PRESENTS therefore witness that
the said William Brew Coroner for and in
Consideration of the Principal Sum of
Six hundred and Eighty three Pounds Sterling
hath Given, Granted, Bargained, Transfered
and Sold and by these presents Doth Give
Grant Bargain Transfer and forever absolutely
Sell unto the Said Thomas Kneale and his
Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns
all and Singular the right to the property
and interest of the said John Looney and
Rachel Looney his Wife in and and unto
those lands and premises Situate in the Parish
of Maughold being part of " Magher E Kew "
Estate with the several Dwelling Houses, offices
and buildings on the Same erected, bounded
on the North by the lands of Thomas Cottier
on the East and South by the property of
Sir George Drinkwater and on the West by
the lands of Thomas Cottier ; and also all
and Singular the Right title property and
interest of the said John Looney and Rachel
his Wife in and to the premises aforesaid
called " Gob ne Scoot " bounded on the
South and West by the lands of General
Alexander J. Goldie on the North by the lands
of William Kerruish and on the East by
the old road leading to Ramsey. To have
and to hold the Several and respective Rights
lands, Houses Gardens and premises aforesaid
unto the said Thomas Kneale and his Heirs
Executors and assignes together with all ways
waters watercourses easements Rights liberties
and appurtenances to the same belonging or
in anywise appertaining forever as aforesaid
And for the true and faithful performance
hereof the said William Brew hereby binds
and obliges himself and his Successors in office
in the penalty of One hundred Pounds to be
levied according to law. As Witness his hand
the Seventh day of April one thousand eight
hundred and forty two . / 1842 /
