there is a 1898 will under Douglas for John Crook (LDS old film number 0106528 - possibly now online but I don't have any ref as I use the Manx Museum films)
(there is also a John Crooke in 1888 shown as an English will but having some manx prop ?

John Crook was noted as lic victualler at Richmond Hill Inn just outside Douglas in 1889 directory - looking at Manx newspapers of period (www.imuseum.im) would help as the licensing courts were generally well reported (the remarks of the High Bailiff would be libellous today!) an 1892 directory has him at Saddle inn

can't see any burial for 1898 John (nor the other one) on IoM burials index
