Just catching up on all the messages (sorry, hadn't seen them come through) and thank you Col for the image of Netherfield Road North. I was trying to look at residents of the No. 8 earlier, as I have spent some time looking in to Lavinias family.
Her family, which did look as though they came from Lancashire area and the family surname: Richards
Lavinias mother was:
Caroline Richards (1845 - 1907)
She married several times: John Charles Waters, Christopher Wood (Lavinas father) and then John Crook
I wandered if perhaps Lavinia had temporarily resided with "Richards" family at the area where Theodore was born
Interestingly, Caroline had another daughter I believe - Elizabeth Waters in 1869 - this was the same year that her husband Charles Waters died. In IoM, you don't see Caroline residing with Elizabeth....only Lavinia. However, on Lavinia's marriage certificate to Albert Henry Brown, Elizabeth Waters is a witness. I think she was a teacher at a school and lived with an aunt.
