I still think Ann was born 1819/1820 (age in 1851, and at burial), and was related to the Shimmin family, but I also reached a dead end with Mary Shimmin and hoped you would do better!
Mary Shimmin's daughter probably grew up using her father's name as was the custom in the IoM, so not called Shimmin.
- An impasse?
Or could Ann have been the illeg daur of one of Robert's or Ellinor Holmes's known siblings, and known by her father's name?

Hopefully John Kelly's marriage 2 will answer some Kelly questions, and have a father James.
