Hi Jo, I was so pleased to read that info. I only had Lawson's 1851 census list to go by & there John 28 & Christian aged 70 were in ref 137 38. John 28, Ann 31, John 2 & Sophia were in ref 138 57 so I didn't connect them. Maybe Brian mixed the numbers. If they are all together then Christian could be my John's mother - although he must have been the youngest as she must have been 40+ when she had him. Once John changed jobs to become a painter, his son, James & James' son (also James & my grandad) carried on in that profession of painters & decorators in C'town. Yes, now I'll see what I can glean from these other Kellys in Mill St. Thank you again so much
