Kay, my point which you have missed is that John Kelly's first marriage in 1844 was before the requirement to fill in additional details was introduced (c.1849 - although some parishes did this earlier). Hence the lack of information for that marriage. So even though this was the marriage which interests you, his having had a second marriage was very lucky, because this marriage in Malew on 27 May 1855 should have his father's name and occupation, addresses, and other details not given in 1844. This should be your starting point, because trying to find the right family when it isn't immediately obvious would be hugely helped by having the above details.
