Yes, I thought it was odd that the 60 yr old was the labourer, but that's what it said.

Ancestry has 18 John Kellys born IOM 1821-1823, a couple of them living in England (one in Cumberland with a large family). I might have missed if you posted what you know about your John Kelly in later life, apart from his age and marriage place, which would help you match him up with a younger version: do later censuses give his occupation for example, or are there any convenient visiting relatives?
