Hi Sylvia, Thanks for your note. Its a good point. Like you say though the father has to be present in order for his name to go onto the birth certificate. So depends on how thorough the registrar was, would he/she have written the name on the registrar without seeing him? Then asked the question later realising he wasn't there then crossing it out.

If it was an error and there is no connection to T.Shields then I can't think of any circumstance how the registrar would have made that mistake.
