Hi Sue & JC
Thank you very much for your help, I very much appreciate it.
I had seen the entry on the site for Helena Emily Crowe, but just presumed it was another of their daughters who had died before the 1891 census and hence why she wasn't listed. It never crossed my mind it would be the same one.
JC - I've had a look at the link you sent and I can see she is listed as Helena Emily (Lena) although still no reference to her as Eleanor, but I think its a fair bet its the same girl. Where does the information come from, as its different to the 1891 census information where for example she is listed as Eleanor?
On my grandma's birth certificate she is called 'Eleanor'. I would have thought she would have put her correct name ie Helena, but I don't know how strict they were about that type of thing back then.
Do you know if many girls went over to England to work as domestic servants? If I'm not wrong her sister, Sarah (whose middle name is Eleanor) was working as a domestic servant on 1901 census in Somerset, so this is why I am wondering if we are onto the right Eleanor....
Thanks again
