Hi Jean
I have spent years looking for our Matthew BURTON on the 1851 census, knowing that he was not with the family in Yorkshire and thinking he would probably be in Manchester. I've had a Eureka moment this week when I found him and I believe George LENG too. They are on the 1851 census of Hulme, Manchester. Piece No. H O 107 2221 page 13. I found it on FMP which has the information as transcribed by Manchester and Lancashire FHS. So to try to find the image on Ancestry I searched for one of the other people on the FMP transcript. Try searching for Charlotte CRABTREE born Manchester 1842 and you will see the state of the image. My Matthew BURTON age 24 and his sister Sarah age 10 are with their uncle and aunt Thomas and Mary BURTON. One name on the FMP transcript is not complete. It is for a George S Lodger age 23 Journeyman carpenter born Stockton Durham and I believe that to be the George LENG of these posts.
So if others can't find their target on Ancestry, try FMP as other 'missing' pages may have been transcribed as well.
