Hi. Eric. Thanks for that, having not been able to carry out any research for a few months I'm a bit rusty but there was a second Thom Cottier born 1812 to John Cottier and Margaret Cannell and he caused me some problems but going back through my notes I disregarded the Thom Cottier buried at Ballaugh because my Thomas, husband of Mary Lawson, bn 1810 should have been 33 not 35, but the age is wrong for the second Thomas bn 1812, there seems to have been a lot of TC's, also profession shipwright, my Thomas when he landed in New York with his brother James in 1836 gave his profession as Plasterer but who knows?
Going back to William Gelling/Cath Cowley the same site gives Williams parents as William Gellin (sic) / Isabel Crain.
Just hope this helps and not hinder your research
