I realize I'm a bit late in responding to this but as a direct descendant of Thomas Cottier bn 1810, I can confirm the information in this posting, but was surprised to learn that he is buried at Braddan, not being able to find any information on his death, we had assumed he had died in America, can you tell me were you found this information and is he buried with Mary.

With regard to the parents of John Gelling I've checked the film of the register for the wedding of John & Isabella Cavendish, 18th November 1788, Braddan and it shows the witness as a John Gelling, possibly his father? but there's a entry on "FamilySearch Ancestral File" showing John's parents as William Gelling bn 1736 and Cath Cowley bn ab 1740, married Braddan 5th August 1758 but this needs checking.
