Thanks Marg, and thank you Frances for interfacing on behalf of Marg.
There's a lot of information here and it'll take me some time to work through it.
In the meantime, though, I think the Will you are referring to for the Ballamillaghyn John Gelling d 1829 is not his. The will is dated 1832 Marown, and Donna has provided MI information that matches this John:
"MI at Marown: 'In memory of John Gelling of this parish, Whe....t, died 28 January 1832, aged 46 years" (no burial on the index).' "
This particular John married Mary FAYLE July 12 1812 Marown and their IGI children match well (and in exactly the same order too) to the Will.
John was bp 10 Apr 1785 Marown (IGI) son of Robert GELLING and Jane KELLY, who married 12 Dec 1780 Marown. Robert was Schoolmaster. There is also a Ballamillaghyn Robert who married a Jane KELLY in 1770, and we've had a merry time sorting these two families out. (discussed earlier on this BB)
Here's some more from Donna, as I've recorded it on my database:
"From D Douglas Manx BB Jul 12/08
#309 St Runius Marown :
'Here repose the remains of JOHN GELLING of Ballig who departed this life January 30th 1784 aged 79 years
also ROBERT GELLING who was Schoolmaster of this parish forty years he died on the 28th of January 1815 aged 62 years
also of THOMAS GELLING Mason son of the above sd ROBERT who died the 2nd of July 1849 aged 68 years
also MARGARET wife of the above THOMAS GELLING who died July 28th 1856 aged 72 years' "
I think Robert G (schoolmaster) matches the baptism 1 Jul 1753 Marown to John GELLING and Ann FAYLE. Both John (1784) and Ann (1792) have wills on the index, but not transcribed yet.
I'll get to the rest of the note later.
