Philip.
Our earlier postings obviously crossed in the ether!
Great to see that you had seen the information sent to Sue and that it was useful. I didn't know how much information you should put into these exchanges, but it appears as though even the smallest of information can sometimes help.
I can confirm that Florence May Joughin was never married and therefore more of the pieces are beginning to come together.
It would be wonderful if this now leads to stepping back onto the IOM and also fills in some gaps for the other people who have kindly responded with additional information.
I am delighted that I have managed to get this far in just one day. I will let everyone know the findings and details of my Grandfather's birth certificate when received.
Incidentally, Herbert Joughin that we both mentioned is the Father of Ronald Joughin, whom we know as Uncle Ronnie, my Father's cousin. He has four children - Terry, Tracey, Ronald and Barry. I'm not sure of their DOB's but they are similar ages to myself and my siblings (c. 45 to 35). I am unable to answer the question regarding the relationship between Herbert and Martha, but my Father tells me that Herbert's first wife, along with his daughter, died in the bombing of an air raid shelter in Seaforth during WWII.
I will ask my Father if he has any further details regarding Herbert & Martha, but I appreciate that we may be getting into sensitive areas for relatives who are still with us.
Many thanks for everyones contributions, I will keep you all posted.
Best regards
Keith.
