Philip.
I have stumbled upon the Manx Genealogy website whilst trying to find out more about my family surname.
I have been spurred on to do this for my father (Alan - b. 09/04/1942) following the recent death of his elder brother (Gordon - b. 16/01/1941 d. 14/11/2007). If possible I would like to be able to trace our roots to pass onto all surviving relatives to try to fill in the gaps and give everyone an understanding of where we have all descended from.
I have so far gleaned that our surname is of Manx origin, probably derives from the Manx meaning for 'Deacon's Son' and is likely to have come from the North of the island. If you are able to confirm any of this I would be most grateful.
As mentioned, I would also like to be able to trace our roots back to the Isle of Man if possible. I have detailed information regarding my father, his other siblings and their parents. I then have some sketchy details regarding my great and great great grandfathers.
Any assistance on how I can take this forward would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards
