Hello, don't know if you are still looking for info on Kinvig/ CLUGSTON. My mother was Peggy (Margaret) Clugston, son of James Robert, son of Wm. Henry Jr., son of Wm. Henry Sr. who married Margaret Watterson. Wm. Henry Sr. was the son of Archibald Clugston and Mary Shaw. They were supposedly b. in Ireland.
I found a note from my mother that stated 2 ladies came to see her because they had found a birth cert of John Herbert Kinvig (after he died) and it stated CLUGSTON on it. I have come up w/the following: He was son of Jane Clugston (dghter of John Clugston and Ann Christian). John Clugston was the son of Archibald Jr. (b. Jan 6, 1813 Arbory). He was a brewer at Mount Gawne, Rushen and died at the age of 25. His wife was Margaret KINVIG (marr. Apr 12 1834). She was a farmer's dghter from Ronague, Arbory. I feel this is the Kinvig connection. John Herbert Kinvig (born Clugston) was reared by her relatives (mother's words). There was also a sister Lucy May(mother Jane), who went by May b. 31 May 1891. Another child Jessie (mother Jane) is in the same grave site as John Clugston in Rushen; she was born 4 Nov. 1887 and died 24 Jun 1894). They lived at the Smelt which is down south near to the brewery.
