Dear Ms. Coakley,
I went back into your Genalogy page of Isle of MAN, ILLEGITIMACY. I may have perhaps put the language wrong. Perhaps what I was stating is what you have written, they were many illegitamate children born on the Isle of Man, AS STATED IN YOUR MANX NOTEBOOK OF 2001. I, perhaps meant even though verbal name history is passed down, it does not mean that Half- brother o Half- sister, who may have have the same mother and a different father or vice versa, could have possbily married not knowing there were half brother and sisters, even second cousins to preserve land rights is very close indeed. I read your Manx notebook you have a William Cain who is petioning the court to recover certain lands situated in the Parish of Michael, called Ballaugh, claiming that the widower, Elizabeth Cain, should not have the land , due to the fact she produced an illegitmate child during her widowhood, thus making the lands of dispute be returned to William Cain . so it was also in this same writing Thomas Corlett, Carpenter of Douglas and Isabel Goldsmith were in dispute over their Illegitamate child and hs needs. Also you have charts showing the ILLEGITIMACY by charts by statistics from LEZAYRE Parish Registers. and the EARL JAMES in a letter to his son stating. there be many-------------- here in this Isle. So what I am trying to state, is perhaps not knowingly many could have married accidently their half-brothers or half-sisters not knowingly. We know, no one would like for this to come out, for truly is was a sin and I was not speaking of incest, I was thinking along the lines of accidental marriage of those who were not aware of their illegitamacy, as the MYLES STANDISH CONTROVERSY, was he or was he not , is a controversy, an illegitimate son from the Isle of Man, and not Lancanshire, so I shall state that through studies this was a problem and through your writing it is very plain to see it was an occurence on the Isle , yes , frowned upon and dealt with harshly, although , two years to make good ona childs name , to have the name of the father does seem very liberal. The Cain's did intermarry, second cousins, here in AMERICA, and it was to keep lands, but many DID NOT EVER MARRY, and many males decsendants, CANNOT produce offspring. So I was very interested that the ELIZABETH CAIN WAS OFF OF WILLIAM CAIN AND WILLIAM CAIN OFF OF JOHN CAIN in the write up of yours, I do not know if they were in our line, but I am going to check, since I read your notebook for the Illegitamate children of the Isle of Man. Sometimes we must swallow pride for truth. I FOR ONE AM NOT AFRAID OF TRUTH, tis better to know than not to know where you came from, the good along with the bad. For kings and queens have had this in their lines, and if my CAINS' CAINES, KOYNS, MC'KAIGNS' has illegitamate children who were in our line I can fully say , I would have to swallow my pride and accept it.
Perhaps now you can see where I was coming from, not INCEST, by choice, but accidental, My grandmother CAIN, never mentioned this is our line, but I am produced by an Illgitmate great grandfather, DOLLIN CAIN, MARRIED A NANCY HARRSION HERE IN AMERICA, WHICH PRODUCED, NATHANIEL CAIN, WHICH PRODUCED ,MY GRANDMOTHER NANCY ELIZBETH CAIN, SHE NEVER TOLD US, BUT BY COURT HOUSE RECORDS AND MUCH RESEARCH , It was found, that is why I say NOT all passed down verbal history is told. The CAINS,' at least my grandmother did tell us stories at her feet, this ONE she never told. I WAS NOT A SHARER, BUT HAVE GIVEN YOU MUCH TODAY, I believe all generations of human beings on earth from CHRIST day to now,as the Bible states of A brother taking his own sister, Tamar, that we all have family members that have come in by Illegitamcacy and many DO NOT KNOW IT.
Tis where I was trying to come from , NOT DIRECT INCEST, NEVER. BUT ACCIDENTAL INTERMARRIAGE AND ILLEGITAMACY.
That is why I asked how did you come about with ADAM CAIN MARRIED TO ELINOR STOEN, THAT PRODUCED TWINS, AND THEN OUR ADAM MARRIED TO ANNE CORLETT PRODUCING TWINS , PATRICK CAIN , WHICH I AM OFF OF and Phillip who died and is buried at Ballaugh Parrish, I wonder if there could be a mistake here AS TO WHO THE PARENTS REALLY ARE OF THE TWINS.
I do hope you understand where I may be going with this, we may none like our behaviour of past relatives, but we MUSTaccept it.
Thank you kindly for your research, I do wish we had more accuracy of records in the Wills of named spouses.
Mrs. Jonnie Ruth Rosa
