I refer only to the immediate ancestors of John Looney (marr. Rachel Redhead) – the simple descent of three John Looneys in a row. Grandfather, father, son.

The line of descent from John Looney d.1769 through his son John b.c.1747/48 couldn't be clearer in his will, the addendum, land records, and the Maughold parish register, and it didn’t involve Margaret Hutchin.

John Looney’s will was witnessed 14th July 1769, and signed by him, his wife Margaret Kelvie, his son Daniel Looney and Daniel's wife Isable, and Daniel’s brother John Looney Jnr.

They all agreed that eldest son Daniel Looney and his wife Isabel “acquit and give up the half of Gob no Scoote w’ch he had in Settlement to his brother John Looney in lieu of Crow creen Lands at ye decease of the Survivor of us together with our other half of Gob no Scoote which I leave and bequeath to my Said Son John after the Decease of the longer liver of us…"
Both were purchased lands.

Father John Looney was buried in Maughold Jul 28 1769.
Margt Creetch als Looney [Kelvie] was buried in Maughold on June 12 1798.

After John Looney’s 1769 death and his widow’s remarriage there was an addendum to his will: “And whereas Margt, (the Widow of the Testator) now wife of Wm. Creetch with her said present Husband have in Court consented & agreed to this Will in every Respect & that Daniel Looney & John Looney have also acknowledged & consented thereto…”

Daniel therefore inherited the whole of their Crow Creen lands (where his mother lived after her second husband’s death), and his younger brother John therefore inherited the whole of their Gob ny Scoote [Boshin] lands.

There was no involvement then or later by Daniel’s son John.

John son of John Looney d.1769 married Isabel Camaish 17 Sept.1788. Isabel died Jan 1817 [will].

John eldest son of John Looney/ Isabel Camaish bapt Maughold 21 Sep 1788.

John Looney Senior of Boshin gave a Heirs bargain to his eldest son John of a parcel of land commonly called Gob -ny -Schoot. 19 December 1831.
“ I the said John Looney being now aged and infirm and unable properly to attend to my own affairs…”

John Looney, 87, (Yack) buried Maughold Dec 2 1835 [will].

His eldest son John b.1788 [1831 Deed] married Rachel Redhead, and after many property dealings (listed by Frances) emigrated to Australia.
