I know this is a long thread, but I thought it might just be worthwhile to interject that the Manx Y-DNA study has identified that there are (so far) two different genetic family lines of male Teares on the Isle of Man. One emanating from Andreas and the other from Patrick. This suggests that the precursor to the family name we now know as Teare, was adopted in parallel by two different families some 800 years ago when names started to become hereditary. Any more male Teares who wish to participate in the Manx Y-DNA study and see where they fit - please let me know. cheers
