the red blob - if just a red circle on the paper, it is the remnant of some seal (often that of a signet ring - hence the name! but no details would will be visible); on some deeds the seal is still mostly intact but this would be obvious on handling the deed.

I gave the 1777 deed many posts ago and suggested that it implied Thomas was a bachelor good to see confirmation - however still can't reconcile the 2 lib assed + lib vas entries
