Thanks for the clarification in reply to my message (below, under Liverpool). I know you are concentrating on the Liverpool John Corkill, but I think Alison was asking whether you have come across a will or decree of any other Corkill family in the IOM during the 1820s where beneficiary/eldest son John was recorded as missing or “beyond seas”?
Her John Corkill was officially contacted in Cornwall from the IOM in 1828 and advised of an inheritance (MM docs). He was unable to respond due to ill health and his family had no success when they tried to follow up the letter later.
Alison doesn’t know which Corkill family in the IOM her JC came from. She does know that it is not that of Thomas in Malew (m Hannah 1770) or of John in Maughold (m Margaret 1769).
So it is yet another IOM Corkill, name unknown, parish unknown, but with an eldest? son John born c 1773.
