I was following this Adam Caine, then Lib Vast, etc thread until my fall.
I scrolled further today for first time thru all the lib vast, etc posts.
Since my early days in genealogy I have been totally buffaloed by these records and have been terrifically impressed with Frances and Nigel etc who seem to deal with them.
I read some of the ones in the 1800s finally and discovered I could actually understand a few words.
So I gathered up my courage and ordered a few films of some of the really old ones.
I started with the latest and could only see a few wods here and there, never made much sense of them.
Then tried the next one and poured over it for over 2 hours. I finally had to admit defeat and asked the librarian for assistance. Turned out I had been sent the wrong film--this one was in German (I don't speak/understand the language)
I took this as a sign from whereever that I was NOT meant to try to read these films, sent them all back and have never since ventured into this area.
I thank Sylvia for bringing up this subject and all the wonderful replies.
I'm going to boost up my courage and TRY AGAIN. Thankfully, I have France's CD to explore.
