Many thanks for your help. What I have found is that the 'Manxonia Ltd., of 49 Victoria Street was wound up in 1950.

There was definitely a very high class ladies milliners and costumiers at that address in the 40's as my mother visited it. She is now dead unfortunately.

I think anyone of that vintage still alive and who would have been also old enough to have
been interested in fashion would remember that shop.

It would have been where the well-heeled shopped, and, figuratively speaking, the rest pressed their nose to the window.

All records, so the department says of that date have been destroyed so can't find the name I am seeking.
