Hi Gillian
You may have mis-read my note , the list of children in the Douglas Industrial Home does not include the boys. However I am not sure if my list is comprehensive. My wife's grandmother Annie May Pickard was the eldest at 9 years of 7 children when her father died in 1899. She was with her maternal grandmother in 1901 , the eldest boy was with the paternal grandparents, her mother with her maternal grandfather , the baby with an unknown family and the four others were in the D.I.H from 26/11/11900. Two of the three boys, Alfred aged 17 in in 1910 and William aged 19 in 1911 were shipped off to Canada. We understand from relatives in Canada that they had no say in the matter. The baby ended back with his mother by 1911.
The Weston theory could extend to Ann Jane Christian Wilson ? Frances suggested short term relationships for Christina , was Ann's father a Christian (Surname) from the IOM , there are plenty of them ! , but would be hard to prove
Cheers
David
